Pattern recurs throughout the natural world as forms reproduce themselves organically, yet the reproductions contain slight variations as tiny mutations interrupt exact duplication. My laser cut wooden jewelry emerges from the themes explored in Fractured Cosmos, probing them from another angle.  The Fractured Cosmos drawings juxtapose arborous forms with fragmented geometric pattern, calling attention to their likeness, as each exposes their underlying principles of replication. My laser-cut wooden forms marry the medium of wood with digital technology, literally bringing the two principle characters from Fractured Cosmos together. Transmuting the themes from the graphic medium of pen-and-ink enables them to emerge from the page, from the wall, from their roots in the earth, and circulate in the living world as mobile fragments themselves.

As in the natural word, my pendants do not duplicate existing forms, but rather are variations on patterns that appear in my other work: some are sections of complete units; some combine separate structures; some are intentionally overlapped, as though in a visual echo or shadow of itself.
